Solitude

Mark 1:35

Why is Mark 1:35 significant?

The Gospel of Mark is traditionally the second of the New Testament Gospel, ascribed to Mark the Evangelist. It narrates the life of Jesus from his baptism by John the Baptist to his resurrection, but it concentrates particularly on the last week of his life.

In this passage (and in other passages in the Bible) we see that Jesus often went to lonely solitary places to pray. Jesus took the time to be alone with God. Finding quiet time to pray and be alone with God is not always easy or feasible, but prayer is the vital link between man and God. Following Jesus; example, we must also find time to pray and be alone with God, even if it means getting up early in the morning and withdrawing from others.
